Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) held its 50th AGM at the Concept3 Business Interiors Ltd. showroom in Saskatoon, Sask. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, which was attended in person and via Zoom by members across the country.
As IDC celebrates 50 years as a member association this year, the IDC team created a multi-faceted campaign to celebrate interior design and IDC members, which includes video interviews, contributed quotes and articles, and media coverage. The campaign’s sponsor is Benjamin Moore. A historic timeline video was shared with AGM attendees:
The Nominating Committee, chaired by Past President, Deborah Rutherford, issued a call for nominations to the membership in late June, for three Director positions. Among many qualified applicants, three candidates were announced for endorsement and were unanimously approved by membership. Those members are Christine Craik form British Columbia, Jennifer Greene from New Brunswick, and Tiiu Poldma from Quebec. Congratulations to the new and returning board members.
IDC founding member, Doris Hasell, was presented with the fourth IDC Legacy Award for Distinguished Service at the AGM. The recipient of this award exemplifies outstanding service and dedication to IDC and more broadly to the interior design community in Canada. The award honours the individuals, companies or institutions that are recognized as being trailblazers for the Canadian design community. Doris Hasell’s Legacy video was shared with AGM attendees:
Following the AGM, a new IDC President was elected for the incoming year. Congratulations to Keshia Caplette from Saskatchewan on the appointment. Ian Rolston joins the group of exceptional leaders as an IDC’s Past President and will continue to serve on the board until 2023.
Jennifer Wiwchar-Fast from Manitoba was appointed Vice President for the coming year. IDC will share information about current committees and open positions with members soon.
