Affordable\, accessible and secure housing is a solution. \nTo gain a better understanding of how individuals find themselves in a homeless situation\, stakeholders need to hear their stories. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) invites stakeholders and those with lived experience to the first annual\, intersectoral\, provincial Building Community – Housing and Homelessness Conference on March 14 and 15 in Saskatoon\, Saskatchewan. \nLearn more about the two-day event’s agenda and keynote speakers\, and register now! \nIn every community in this province\, there are people living on the streets. The increasing cost of living is forcing others out of their homes and into a realm of uncertainty. A 2022 Point-in-Time survey shows homelessness is up by 15% in Saskatoon\, 36% in Prince Albert and 41% in Regina. The reasons are many and vary from person to person. There could be addictions issues\, mental health and wellness\, abuse\, the list goes on. \nCome together as individuals\, providers\, stakeholders to gain a better understanding of how individuals find themselves in a homeless situation and become a part of the housing solution.

They are dedicated to a world in which people’s health is placed at the center of all design decisions. Behjat\nArchitect & Senior Researcher in Design and Practice\, Parsons Healthy Materials Lab\, NYC \nLeila D. Behjat is a creative solution finder with a high sense for design and aesthetics. With a Diplom-Ingenieur (Masters) in Architecture from Hafencity Universitaet\, Hamburg\, Germany\, she has worked globally in interior and lighting design fields on both residential and commercial projects. In recent years\, she has focused on renovation with healthier building materials. Her current role as Senior Researcher in Practice and Design with Healthy Materials Lab at Parsons School of Design deepens her motivation and expertise to create healthier and more joyful spaces for humans and the planet. Leila is a 2022 Maintainers Movement Fellow with Sam Bennett. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenter: Alison Mears \nAIA\, LEED APAssociate Professor of Architecture\, Director and Co-Founder\, Healthy Materials Lab\, Parsons School of Design\, New York \nAs Director of the Healthy Materials Lab\, Alison leverages her practice-based experience as an architect and her knowledge and experience as a long-term academic leader to confront one of the more serious and often overlooked environmental challenges of our time: the health of the built environment. How do we make profound and long-term change to everyday design practice to create healthy buildings especially for those in the most need in affordable housing?  HML creates resources\, educational programming\, and prototypical innovative housing models for a new post petroleum world.  Alison is co-Principal Investigator of the Healthy Affordable Materials Project (HAMP).
