The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC)<\/a> is a\u202fnational\u202frating system that\u202fmeasures and certifies the\u202flevel of\u202fmeaningful access of buildings and sites. The RHFAC is offered as a training course that allows individuals to become certified accessibility assessors and helps them to better understand physical accessibility, how they can improve,\u202fand identify\u202fbarriers\u202ffor their community, customers, or employees.<\/p>\n

This training course is highly recommended for individuals who are involved in assessing, designing, constructing, commissioning, or maintaining buildings or their surroundings.<\/p>\n

As the need for increased accessibility in all communities continues to grow, the RHFAC Training is a great opportunity for IDC members to enhance their skills and ensure everyone can access and use the spaces they\u2019re designing, building, or managing in a meaningful way. I kindly request that you share the RHFAC Training course with your members, either by forwarding this email, or if applicable, adding the course to your association\u2019s event calendar or professional development listing.<\/p>\n

The RHFAC Training is held twice throughout the year, and we are currently accepting registrations for fall 2021 and spring 2022. The training course is delivered online through Carleton University\u2019s READ (Research, Education, Accessibility, and Design) Initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The deadline to register for the fall 2021 course is October 7, 2021. The online course will include both synchronous (real-time classes with an instructor via Zoom) and asynchronous (offline activities) segments. The course will run for eight days over two weeks. Registrants must be available for the full course:<\/p>\n

Week 1: Monday October 25 \u2013 Thursday October 28, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Week 2: November 1 \u2013 Thursday November 4, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Space is limited. Interested individuals can register for the Fall 2021 RHFAC Training via READ\u2019s online form<\/a>.<\/p>\n
