This year\u2019s Design Symposium, held at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver B.C. closed the event with an awards gala on Sept. 13, which honoured outstanding IDC members, their work, and innovation within the interior design community.<\/p>\n

The event celebrated winners of the 2019 Value of Design Awards (VODA), recognized participants of the\u00a0PROpel Emerging Leaders<\/a>\u00a0program, and acknowledge the Robert Ledingham Scholarship, BYU Design Bursary, and the Wayne Thomson Bursary.<\/p>\n

This year IDC presented Glen Brewer, President, Midgley Tecnica, with the inaugural IDC Legacy Award for Distinguished Service. The recipient of this award exemplifies outstanding service and dedication to IDC and more broadly to the interior design community in Canada. The award honours the individuals, companies or institutions that are recognized as being trailblazers to the design community nationally.<\/p>\n

Additionally, three IDC members were inducted into the IDC College of Fellows during the Awards Gala \u2013 Helen Christensen, Fran Underwood, and clinton hummel.<\/p>\n

Value of Design Awards (VODA)<\/h3>\n

This year, 8 Canadian design firms from coast to coast were honoured at IDC\u2019s inaugural Value of Design Awards. The program was established to shine a spotlight on innovative work that pushes the interior design industry forward.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Value of Design Awards were presented to the following winners who continue to push the boundaries of interior design. These designers have implemented an empathetic, inventive, and iterative process, focused on the human experience into their projects; creating sustainable and functional designs for the present and future.<\/p>\n
