On June 20, IDC members, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry representatives from across the GTA gathered in Stouffville, Ont. for Destination DesignEx 2023. IDC featured a new venue to host DesignEx at Willow Springs Winery<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n The event featured three seminars, a networking lunch on the patio, and a wine tasting tour featuring the venue\u2019s signature wines. Platinum sponsor, LEVEY<\/a>, Gold sponsors, Ciot<\/a> and ShawContract<\/a>, and Silver sponsors, Patcraft<\/a>, Skyfold<\/a>, Dacor<\/a>\/Samsung<\/a>, and Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces<\/a>, were among the exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services at the table top presentation.<\/p>\n \u201cThe IDC DesignEx Toronto was a great success. It was great to see many designers come out to the event. I made some new connections and it was great to see some familiar faces. Looking forward to the next event,\u201d says Paula Cavallin, Account Executive at Garrett Leather<\/a>.<\/p>\n The first seminar, \u2018Flexibility in Wood Veneer\u2019 presented by LEVEY<\/a> focused on how wood veneer at .2mm or thinner vs .6mm reduces technical challenges of natural wood veneer. The presenter summarized slicing and matching of natural veneer and how that impacts the overall visual of a project.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a platinum sponsor, it was our pleasure to support Destination DesignEx this year,\u201d says Silvana Levey, CEO and President of LEVEY. \u201cThe beautiful winery venue added a lovely backdrop to the interactive CEU presentations and learning while renewing friendships. LEVEY has always been an avid supporter of learning and growth within IDC and will be continuing in that tradition in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018World GBC Health & Wellbeing\u2019, the second seminar of the day presented by ShawContract<\/a>, illustrated how to design spaces that promote health and wellbeing, including tips on lighting, ventilation, and acoustics.<\/p>\n \u201cOur experience at IDC DesignEx Willow Spring Winery was truly fantastic. The opportunity to connect with other industry professionals, deliver a CEU, and showcase our products was unparalleled,\u00a0\u00bb says Luciano Bonini, Marketing Director, Canada at ShawContract. \u201cWe are grateful for the chance to be a part of such a well-organized and impactful event.\u201d<\/p>\n The final seminar was on building code, lead by Trisha Ashworth, P.Eng., M.Eng., Senior Code Consultant, Department Manager of Code within the Code and Life Safety Group at Morrison Hershfield<\/a>. The seminar demonstrated how to find, identify, and apply key code requirements for egress and exiting, interior finishes and combustible materials.<\/p>\n \u00ab\u00a0Destination DesignEx was a lovely event!
