Kara MacGregor
Principal, MAC Interior Design Inc.
IDNS, BAAID, NCIDQ, LEED AP, Fellow IDC
Kara MacGregor is one of Canada’s most passionate advocates for Interior Design Practice Legislation. Starting as President of the Interior Designers of Nova Scotia in 2000, she devoted 3 years to drafting, campaigning for, and shepherding through the first Interior Design Practice Act to pass in Canada on May 22, 2003. She continued for the next decade working to ensure that Interior Design was fully recognized in all related provincial Building Code Regulations while also encouraging those in other provinces in their legislative pursuits. She brought this perspective to (N)CIDQ serving as a delegate for six years and Chairing the CIDQ Small Jurisdiction Task Force. She left her volunteer post with CIDQ to sit on the IDC Board and spent five years as a Board member, establishing and Co-Chairing Provincial Legislative Calls and actively engaged on their Governance Committee. Kara has also endeavored to raise the profile of the interior design profession and foster relationships with our greater community serving on the Board of the Atlantic Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council, as a Public Member for the NS Architect’s Association, and for 12 years on the NS Advisory Task Force on Canada’s Internal Trade Agreement and Fair Registration Practices. Her dream is to see Interior Design Practice Acts established in every province across Canada.
