IDC invites members to apply to attend the Trade Mission to the Czech Republic: Furniture Industry and Design in Prague and Brno, Sept. 29 – Oct. 5, 2024.

This trade mission is organized in collaboration with the Cluster of Czech Furniture Manufacturers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. It will provide an insight into contemporary trends and traditions in Czech furniture manufacturing (esp. millwork), furniture for commercial and residential use, current Czech design trends including Czech glass, as well as insights into Czech architecture.

Participants receive: 

  • Accommodation, local transport, and meals during the official part of the trade mission.
  • Flights reimbursed up to CAD $600.

Additional costs (insurance, additional expenses related to travel to the Czech Republic, visa costs if needed, personal expenses, etc.) will not be covered.

Program overview:

Sept. 29 – Arrive at Brno, Czech Republic.

Sept. 30 – Networking seminar at the Cluster, Furniture Testing Lab, Textile Testing Lab, visit to NADOP (furniture and kitchens company), guided tour of the Hotel Avion.

Oct. 1 – Visit TON factory (manually bent furniture), tour of Brno city architecture.

Oct. 2 – Visit Drevojas (bathroom furniture company) and DDL Wood-processing company Lukavec (important traditional lumber producer), transfer to Prague.

Oct. 3 – Visit trade show FOR INTERIOR, attend tour, meetings with companies, visit Center of Architecture and Metropolitan Planning, meetings with architects.

Oct. 4 – Tour of Prague, visit to Designblok, Prague International Design Festival, meetings with designers (in partnership with Academy of Arts, Architecture and Desing in Prague and the Ministry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

Oct. 5 – Wrap up, additional tour of the city.
