IDC’s Regional Impact Award program, presented by ShawContract, celebrates the significant contributions of Canadian design professionals and the impact their legacy continues to have on the interior design community.
Impact Award West will be hosted in Winnipeg, Man. on April 25, 2025 at the Manitoba Club.
IDC and The Professional Interior Designers Institute of Manitoba (PIDIM) council are collaborating to recognize this year’s honouree IDC Past President, Jennifer Wiwchar-Fast, Professional Interior Designer, Senior Accommodations Planner, City of Winnipeg, Planning Property and Development.
Jennifer Wiwchar-Fast is a professional interior designer and past president of Interior Designers of Canada. Her practice spans nearly two decades in the residential, corporate, healthcare, hospitality and institutional design sectors. She is a dedicated volunteer with her provincial organisation, the Professional Interior Designers Institute of Manitoba (PIDIM), where she held various positions on the board, including serving as the president. Jennifer thrives on continual learning opportunities and collaboration with the compliment of individuals who comprise the project team. She is a strong advocate on behalf of the interior design profession and strives to constantly educate the public on what an interior designer can offer to elevate their project. In addition to design education and credentials, she obtained a Project Management Professional certification, is currently serving as a committee member on the CIDQ P/X exam committee, co-chair of PIDIM’s Manitoba Design Exposition and board chair for her daughter’s school.
Jennifer will be live on stage in conversation with Laney Stewart, Executive Director of The Professional Interior Designers Institute of Manitoba (PIDIM), Jason Kasper, IDC Past President, and Founder and Principal at IDEATE Design Consulting Inc., and Trevor Kruse, CEO at Interior Designers of Canada.
Laney Stewart is the Executive Director of PIDIM and a seasoned Professional Interior Designer with experience in both residential and commercial interior design. Laney’s involvement with various industry organizations, including serving as PIDIM President, has allowed her to shape the future of design while mentoring the next generation of professionals.
As a volunteer and board member of different non-design organizations, Laney is a firm believer in the power of giving back. She advocates for the importance of volunteering and networking, viewing them as critical to personal and professional success.
Outside of her career, Laney enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and their dog and cat. A lover of road trips and swimming, she seeks out adventure and relaxation by the water, all while enjoying the joys of family life.
Jason Kasper is the founder and principal of IDEATE Design Consulting Inc., a Manitoba-based interior design studio offering clients a collaborative design experience – and the team he has assembled provides this with dedication, enthusiasm and integrity. Keenly interested in detail, the studio provides consultation to commercial, healthcare, residential, retail and corporate clients. It is not the size of the project that is important to this firm, but rather the potential impact each design solution can have on those who experience it day to day.
Jason received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Manitoba, where he subsequently instructed in the area of design studio and professional practice. He is active in his professional association and committed to charitable organizations in his community. Interested in the environment that surrounds him, micro to macro, Jason wants to make a difference in his world one client at a time.
Trevor Kruse has enjoyed a 35-year career as a professional interior designer along with nearly three decades of volunteer service on provincial, national, and international boards, including the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), the Society of British Interior Designers (SBID), and the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).
He has forged strong relationships with academia, government, media, industry partners, and design trade shows and events, along with IDC’s allied associations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) and the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ).
Don’t miss this opportunity to network with your local design community, enjoy delicious food, and hear about the successes, challenges, and the journey and impact of volunteering from leading experts.
