SUMMARY:Danish Desire: Sustainable Methods in Architecture & Design
DESCRIPTION:Join TORP and thought leaders from the Danish and Canadian design communities for Danish Desire: Sustainable Methods in Architecture & Design\, a live virtual panel discussion on the integral role of architecture\, design and furniture design in creating a greener future\, Saturday\, January 22 from 2pm-3pm EST\, part of the DesignTO 2022 Festival. \nIn Denmark\, robustly funded research & development in green technology\, design and production helps to create jobs and contributes to building a strong economy. Eco-certified buildings within socially conscious\, green cities offer bold new approaches to urban renewal that are inspiring new projects globally. In Danish furniture production\, methods are continually updated to further reduce the carbon footprint\, with elegant\, functional designs that last generations. \nOur panelists will explore the green wave’s impact on design for a better future and uncover: \n\nWhat can we learn from Denmark’s sustainable design initiatives?\nWhat are the economic advantages\, if any\, to investing in green design?\nHow has increased awareness of climate change inspired architects and designers?\nHow do green buildings and cities benefit the health of individuals and communities?\nAre students of design today learning fresh approaches to sustainable design?\n\nExploring how design plays a key role in fighting climate change\, we have some exciting guests this year: Louis Becker of Henning Larsen Architects in Denmark; Katja Aga Thom of Agathom Architects\, Toronto; Lene Tanggaard of Kolding Design School\, Denmark; and Kasper Holst Pedersen of PP Møbler\, renowned furniture maker in Denmark. \nPlease RSVP to attend by registering here. \nFor more details\, visit: https://www.torpinc.com/dd22 or https://designto.org/event/danish-desire-2022/ \nThis free event is hosted by TORP\, the Danish Consulate General in Toronto\, is a feature of the Nordic Bridges initiative at Harbourfront Centre\, and is part of the DesignTO Festival.
