Don’t miss The Value of Design Competitions, Case studies of an award-winning project – a panel discussion presented by IDC on Sunday, April 27 at 1:30 p.m.
‘Garden Avenue Laneway Home’ is a much-awarded project collaboration of the clients, Interior Designer Suzanne Wilkinson & Builder Jeff Wilkinson along with their Architect Betsy Williamson of Williamson Williamson. The Garden Laneway House is set between garages that face a service lane. It is a lyrical collection of modern lines, authentic materials, and intentional views. Clad in a rotated brick facade, it brings beauty to the laneway and reimagines the possibilities for small-scale urban densification.
This case study will be a discussion with Suzanne Wilkinson and Jeff Wilkinson moderated by Trevor Kruse, IDC CEO, (FARIDO).
Speakers:
Suzanne Wilkinson – Partner, Figure3
With over 30 years in the interior design industry, Suzanne Wilkinson is a seasoned design leader known for her ability to create environments that balance strategic function with refined, luxurious aesthetics.
Suzanne began her career in Ottawa as the first employee at 2H Interior Design. In 1997, she moved to Toronto following the recession, where her career quickly accelerated through high-profile commercial and government work. Her early projects included the headquarters relocation for Petro Canada, the renovation of the Canadian Department of Justice, and the design of the Rogers Communications headquarters.
In 2006, Suzanne joined Figure3, one of Canada’s leading interior design firms, where she continued to lead innovative corporate workplace projects for clients such as McCarthy Tétrault, The Globe and Mail, the NHL Players’ Association, and Coca-Cola Canada.
After the 2011 economic downturn, Suzanne guided a new chapter for Figure3, leading the firm’s first multi-family luxury residential condominium project. This shift not only redefined the firm’s portfolio but also drove significant business growth, with residential design quickly becoming over 50% of the company’s revenue.
In 2013, Suzanne became a Partner at Figure3. Today, she plays a key role in leading the firm’s continued success nationally and internationally. Most recently, she and her husband received a Governor General’s Award for their custom-designed Laneway House, a project that exemplifies their shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and high design.
Suzanne brings a thoughtful and sophisticated design perspective to every project, with a focus on how people live, work, and connect in spaces that are both functional and deeply inspiring.
