Building Queer Space

August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

Designers have the responsibility to create inclusive, accessible spaces for all, including the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Through the lens of the Rainbow Resource Centre—Canada’s longest-running 2SLGBTQ+ resource centre—the presentation explores how to design with and for the Queer community. Based in Winnipeg, the Centre’s Place of Pride is a leading example of a queer campus project. The session will discuss what queer space is and how to properly engage with and design inclusive spaces for all. Queering spaces is not limited to the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and is part of a larger conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
